I'd like to build my own lowers from 80% forgings, does anybody who's done this before have any advice on what to do and not do? Also if anybody has anything good or bad to say about this company https://www.vbd.com/noc/shop/default.asp Any info would be greatly appreciated!! If this is a dupe, sorry, I couldn't find anything....... |

I know of someone who just finished building a lower ordered from that company. As for the normal individual, this is a lot of work. The guy who built his 80% lower owns a machine shop, so he had access to just about everything one would need to build a 80% lower. A word of advice, BE VERY CAREFUL when drilling out the holes for the detents for the pivot pin and takedown pin. You snap a bit in the wrong place, and you will be screwed. |

www.roderuscustom.tzo.com/ 100% finishings, just use the parts you need for the 80% stuff. |
What's the point? You can get 100% stripped lowers for less money. Stripped lowers are one of the few bargains left in the AR market, considering you can get quality ones for as low as $75-80. Something about 80% AR receivers screams FELON or prohibited person to me....

At first I wanted to do one, until I found out how many man hours were involved, then I changed my mind. Also, I can damn near get two complete lowers for the price of one 80% complete job. |
I have a cnc mill and could build all of it from scratch but for the time it would take I would choose an 80%.. I would only want custom engraving and logos that aren't some deer head. And to let you know I don't have a record... I have found that most people that say it sounds devious don't have the skills or talent to build one themselves....Hope that isn't you |
