I have found an SP1 with a funky serial number and I needed some help.

The Serial number is 5 digits with a small case "x" behind the number...any significance to the "x"?  I can't find any reference to...

Thanks

got a photo ?
i was told they were "remakes" by Colt, to replace an original that was damaged.

Colt no longer will do that.

I think the last time this question came up it was found to be accidently making two recievers with same SN, and they added the x to differentiate.

Called COLT.  they referred me to their "pay service" research.

As I described it to the person on the other end of the line the response was "Huh?"

I only know of one Colt that was redone, and it kept the same serial number, to change the serial number would have defeated the purpose of redoing it in the first place.

Best theory I can think of is duplicate serial numbers, so one gets an X.

The people that answer the phone at Colt are unlikely to know more about Colt's then you.  Just because they work at Colt and answer the phone don't mean they know jack.
