I am using an A2 stock on this build but don't know if the rifle buffer is best for this. Thanks for the help. |

The buffer choice is primarily related to the buffer tube and spring, NOT the barrel length or gas system. If you have an A1/A2 buffer tube/spring, then use a rifle buffer. If you have a carbine buffer tube/spring, then use a carbine buffer. Of course, for the carbine tube, there are several weights of buffers available - including the H2 and 9mm buffers. Also, you can get different strength springs - so there is definitely "adjustment" possible in terms of buffers. But you don't want to put a carbine buffer in a rifle-length tube (with the rifle-length spring). |
I think the point he was making is that given the fact that you should use a rifle buffer for a rifle-length tube/spring, there still are a few options (in the same way that there are 9mm and H2 heavier buffers available for carbine length tubes). Both are versions of buffers that are designed to reduce felt recoil, or reduce the cyclic rate (on full-auto rifles). I believe the eindine version has some kind of hydraulic system, and the mgi has a moving part inside the buffer (but requires an additional spacer to be used with a rifle length tube). |
