I want to take off my YHM 4-rail handguards and replace them with a long FF railed handguard. I just want the last inch or so of the barrel to protrude.

Here's my gun now.

I have a 2 rail gas block that will come off easily enough. What else do I need to do a FF job?

I was thinking of these handguards.

Does anyone have a pic of how this might look?

You will have about 4" or so of barrel showing with even the longest of rails you have pictured there. Best thing you could get would be the LaRue 13.2" rail, its the longest available. With that rail you'd have only the last 2.8" of barrel showing (plus the flash hider). While you are at it, get a LaRue low prifile gas block to replace your front sight. There are a varity of rail mounted, flip up front sights available. The most popular of them would be the Troy, but the Samson and PRI are also quite nice.

The longest rails you can get are the Troy MRF-RX (13.5") and the Larue 13.2. The Troy design doesn't need the barrel to be removed though. The Larue is considered by many to be the best rail available, to which I agree.

Go with what new-arguy said. Larue low pro gas block, Troy sights, and what ever long rail system you prefer.

Troy makes a 13.5" rail now.  I just installed one on a 20" barrel.  Very nice forearm.

When I was considering what FF to use on my 20", I looked @ the Troy... Not too many folks had seen them & no one had them in stock. I called Troy & they said they would set one aside for me if I decided I wanted one.

I actually went with a smooth FF instead if a rail.
