I have LMT, Colt and CMT M16 bolt carriers but sorry my camera is not very good at macro mode. LMT carriers are usually not marked but the bolt assembly usually have a letter code like mine have a letter 'F' stamp. I rate the LMT staking on the carrier key and skrews in between Colt (the best) and CMT (adequate but not as good as LMT). You could either do a better staking DIY or have your gunsmith do it for you. Here is a good thread about staking. Proper Staking of Carrier Key Screws |
This was a great thread and I was hoping someone saved it. For future reference, where is it stored at on the site? |
Yes, Tweak stored it in the content server of this site, here's the URL: www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=122 Don't forget to save it in your favorites/ bookmark. Here's the perfect staking example from that thread, it's a Colt carrier of course. ![]() Originally posted by Tweak Its a good reminder that users should be checking their staking when they pick up a new/ used bolt carrier or AR15. |
Thank Tweak, he just saved you 24 bucks. It's a good thing he did that because he was trying to keep it out of the Archive which could be accessed by team members only. The links to the content server are located in the AR15 Troubleshooting Forum "Read This Before Posting" tacked thread or just click my link and then click on Content Index. Don't forget to bookmark it. READ THIS BEFORE POSTING - Troubleshooting Forum link |
