| What do you guys think the general maximum amount of rounds you can shoot through a LE6920, or a generic top-quality m4 is? |
|
Colt will last the longest, but most will last longer than you will shoot them, and specific components like barrels and triggers will go first. The Colt has extra inspection process that make them more likely to work out of the box, and they tend to not fall apart as quickly. |
| If you are going to take a class, get a second spare gun. Barring that, get gas rings, a complete bolt and carrier set, a spare fire control group, a replacement buffer spring and have tools handy for every part of you rifle, down to the screw that holds the grip on. |
Until what? Catastrophic failure? Until you burn out the barrel? Need to replace the bolt parts? I think it is too general a question to answer without specificying what event would terminate your ability to shoot it. |

I have heard that the button rifled chrome lined bores can only handle about 20,000 - 30,000 rounds (semi-auto fire) before accuracy is significantly reduced. The hammer forged barrels with polygonal rifling seem to handle much more. E.g. Glock hammer forged polygonal rifled barrels handle 100,000+ rounds, whereas the FN Five-seveN pistol's chrome lined button rifled bore is rated for 20k rounds. |
