| I want to build an M4 upper with a 14.5" barrel and a permanentl attached FH to make it legal without a tax stamp. I mewasured the barrel with the Phantom FH and it is almost 17" end to end. When I tried measuring with the GI FH it measures 16.125 inched end to end. I must be missing something here on the way barrel length is measured because I was under the impression that this combination would be less than 16 inches. Can anyone shed some light on this? Who in the ATF should I contact to make sure that when the upper is built I am still legal. I do not wish to break the law but like the original lok of the M4 barrel. BTW, the barrel is NOT in my possesion right now just to make sure no-one thinks I have an SBR. I gave it to the builder so he can deal with the whole deal. |
