is there a function check for the forward assist?

Pull the charging handle slightly to the rear. Use your thumb to push f/a. If the carrier is being pushed forward, it works.

remove the upper so the carrier doesnt have forward force by the buffer spring and then slide it in and tap the forward the assist to drive home.

Looking good. Everytime I push it, the carrier moves an inch or so forward :)
