Hey guys, I've been out of the loop for a while - I've been deployed for 21 of the last 27 months - so I was hoping you all could fill me in as far as my options for buying Colt rifles when I get home. I heard a while back that Colt went back to requiring LE / Military letters to sell their non-ban rifles (e.g. 6920) - is this still the case? I'm in the military, but I would be buying for personal use (never understood why it wasn't good enough for me to just be in the military...). If this is the case, would they accept a letter from me just stating that I'm in the military, or do they require some kind of statement about it being for official government use? For what it's worth, I'm a company commander... Can I easily order a complete lower (without stock) to build my own? I can't seem to find any lowers listed on their website - definitely not user-friendly like Bushmaster and other sites. Could someone with a Colt price list tell me the part number and price for a complete lower (without stock)? I'd appreciate any other advice on buying Colts - I like my Bushmaster, but I'd like to add a Colt or two to my collection, inspite of some people's misgivings about the company. Thanks for your help, Dave |

Hello 3ACR_Scout! May I start out by saying thankyou for serving our country! As far as restrictions, this is not the case. A colt 6920 can be purchased from one of their "law enforcement" dealers without any special letters. These dealers are usually willing to sell to anyone. Here are some good places to look. www.knesekguns.com/price.php# www.policesupplyinc.com/ www.policeguns.com/shop/default.cfm?CFID=1834543&CFTOKEN=79223824&Action=home www.specializedarmament.com/ Hope this helps... Thanks a lot for clearing that up - I guess I just need to find a good LE dealer in Colorado then! One more question: Does Colt offer a version their LE carbine with a 14.5" barrel and permanently attached flash suppressor, or would I have to find a 14.5" barrel to put on the 6920? Thanks again! Try Jensen firearms in Loveland Colorado Store website <---click me |

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'm going to check out Jensen, but I remembered that I can probably order through Peterson AFB or Fort Carson MWR and get a really good deal too. Does anyone know a model number for ordering just a lower receiver? Can I get one like the 6920 lower with the same labeling, or would it say "AR-15" or "Sporter" or something like that? I don't really care about it saying "LE / Military Only" or anything like that, but I'd like it to say "M4" on it. Thanks! Dave |

The 6920 is labeled: Colts Law Enforcement Carbine 5.56mm The 6721 is labeled AR 15 A3 and has the law enforcement govt/export stuff on the right side (as does the 6920) The only Colts AR15s with M4 on the side are: The Match Target 6400C or the 6921. The 6921 is an NFA item since it is registered as a short barreled offering The 6400 ![]() the 6920 ![]() the 6721 (AR15 A3) ![]() and the 6921 ![]() see them all-----> HERE |
Thanks for the great info - I'll save those for reference. Any idea what version I'd end up with if I ordered a complete lower by itself? Maybe the Match Target? Still can't seem to find any info on ordering a lower by itself... Dave |

If you want to order just the lower colt does not sell them this way. But you can order the lower of your choice (6920) from here and have it shipped to your local FFL Specialized Armament Warehouse |

Sir, PLEASE do a good bit of research on what a "good price" really is. Two days ago at the range there was a guy who was beaming about his new Colt's 6721. He paid $1400, which "was a really good deal because prices are going up since Colt's doesn't manufacture AR15s anymore." I felt really sorry for the guy getting bent over like that by some prick gun store employee. He was happy with it, and I didn't really have the time, so I didn't burst his bubble. It's a shame that people take the time to learn the market before purchasing firearms like they do for cars and houses. |
I agree but keep in mind nobody has 6920s in stock. I am on 5 waiting lists and have been waiting for about 3 months. At this particular moment it is a sellers market unfortunately. |

The Equipment Exchange here is one of the better sources for LE6920 stuff (lowers, uppers, complete carbines) The links posted above (by Couch-Commando) are good ones and I would add to those Clydes Armory LINK i just realized CC's links included clydes (as Police Supply) and the web says "IN STOCK" for $1,179 ea.Jim @ Police Supply in Santa Rosa Beach Florida is another good guy/source for them. (also lised in CCs links) all but one of mine came from Knesekguns |
