If the user is a little girl who likes pink and purple and , why would you care?  I doubt she makes fun of your AR15s.

It might offend you, but the receiving end is just as effective.

I know someone who has one of the glow in the dark Cavarms ARs. It's very cool! Someone actually said "Well that's not very tactical it would give your position." Yeah like he's going to get into some situation where he can't get at any of his other 15 ARs, 5 FALs, G3, M14, etc.

It's an awesome gun.

I showed this thread to my 6 year old daughter some time ago.  I think that decision is going to end up costing me some coin.

When my little girl is old enough I'll build her one of those. Heck the wife wants purple furniture on her AR now...whatever it takes to get them interested.

I’m going to paint my next AR pink so my kid is more attracted to it, smart. Firearms are firearms their not toys and shouldn’t be made out to look like them. As an adult its my obligation to teach my child that a gun is not a toy, painting a firearm pink with little stickers sends miss signals if you ask me.

If your children wouldn't understand the difference, you need to bring them up better.  Treating it like a toy would be an error, but it takes more than a color to make something a toy.

+1 - color isn't important it's attitude/training that is the key.

BTW if you want to see some closeups of the rifle I have them stored [HERE] at the Maryland AR-15 Shooters Site (bottom of this page)

Punny typo!

Hylton, I would hope, and I believe, that no member here would put a firearm in the hands of a child if that child had the attitude that it was a toy.  Of course safety is paramount - on that we all agree.

What a great typo. Yes, a pink AR does send miss signals.

I've seen pictures of kids (girls particularly) who compete in .22 target and highpower shooting that paint up their rifles in bright color schemes. I think I'd be more concerned about training and controlling access to firearms with kids.

With the light barrel and shorty stock that's a pretty good set up for a teenage girl.

My six year old daughter said to me that she hates guns. I almost had an MI (heart attack).  Especially after moving from the Communist Republic of California.  After I showed her the pic of the barbie rifle , she can't wait until she is old enough to join her brother and other sister on the range with me.

I have no problem painting the furniture of an AR pink for my daughter but I already told her the rest of the rifle stays black.

Forest- I'm at 1600x1200 resolution so I couldn't see what was engraved on the side of ol' Barbie.  I knew I saw something and figured it was the usual 3 or 4 lines of text.

Sorry to have ruffled your feathers.
