I have shot IPSC (Major - Limited (now Limited 10) ) for many years and am now considering getting involved with some 3-gun matches. Primarily for the challenge of stepping outside my comfort zone (competing with just my pistol !). I'd be gratefeul if y'all could point me to: -some reputable 3-gub websites that cover the basics of getting started -a site that covers the rules of the sport (I'd like to remain in Limited division) -any info / advice you can share on gear selection would be greatly appreciated. I assume I may be in the market for an AR type rifle and a shotgun shortly! Thanks in advance! Westy PS: if this info is already on www.ar15.com my apologies....I did do a search for "3-gun" and it came back with 0 results. |
My selection is an A2 M4 type Bushmaster 14.5 HBAR/phantom carbine.A mossberg 590 pump with top folding stock and a Colt 1911A1 modified as far as parts and polishing.Wilson 47D mags in the pistol and the grey steel brit and singapore AR mags.Only 4 oz heavier and a little more care maintaining when used in wet weather but smoother function and tougher resistance to damage than GI mags.I use the new magpull followers in them. My gear selection is a simple custom built rig with H suspenders at its core and an 8 point attachment system with a camel back.....that water is a god send when your running around trying to beat the clock and hit the targets. My club uses a pretty simple set up for a course but its fun has a cash prize and the course can be changed up so your not shooting the same set up time and time again.
