What are your opinions on Rock River Arms? I am looking at a CAR-15 A3 Flat Top any inputs? |
To be clear, RRA is not the equal of Colt. It is, however, a better value for the dollar. |
I do not base my opinions one one article in a gun rag--one that has RRA as a sponsor from time to time, but not Colt. I base it on my own observations and those of people whose judgement I trust. Colt>RRA That is the fact of the matter over a broad statistical sample. |
Yea, don't you just hate those incompetent people who make a living testing and comparing all types of weapons -every day? I wouldn't trust them either if I were you. Glad your happy with your Colt. Me, I’ll stick with my RRA all day long. |
I know a gentleman who makes his living testing and comparing equipment for the US Government. His carbine said Colt on the side.... He was using a Continental Machine and Tool rifle last I saw. A Colt by any other name... |
| The DEA and FBI HRT are going with them based on the findings of the FTU (Firearms Training Unit) IIRC back when they did those tests. The testing sounded pretty thorough and they were the only ones to make it through with no 'second chances' needed for any of the tests. That's pretty good. |

I thought Colt were made by CMT, as were RRA and Stag. I have been issued many colts, but i own 2 RRA's. Both are top of the line in my opinion. The only thing I can say for Colt is the MPI Bolt and Barrel, plus the barrel material being 4150 instead of 4140 like RRA. In 99.9% of the cases neither of these 2 extra qualities will mean shit. Save your money and get a RRA. Use the extra for mags and ammo. |
| have one and love it. 100% reliable. Not quite as tight or well finished as a Les Baer TR I got to shoot at the range one day, but at a THIRD the price, I'll take it. It's been just as nice or nicer than any Bushy or Olyarms I've got to shoot. Never shot a Colt, so I can't compare. |

RRA's my brand of choice. RRA, welcome to the boards and I'm glad you're here. On a side note, I started a topic about RRA joining the board awhile back. Almost all of the votes were positive, but a few people were discouraging the idea. To those people, I have to say, HA! (Childish excitement rant over.) Keep up the good work guys. |

I want to replace my crappy plastic colt buffer. are the buffers offered by RRA like this? |
Mine was. WIZZO |
Wow! Great looking rifle! how is the surefire forend? My RRA outshoots me anyday! |
| I an in process of putting a SBR together and have used a RRA upper, Wilson 11.5" HBAR, RRA carbine stock, RRA lower parts kit, and I just purchased a BCG from Legal Transfers made by RRA. So far the upper (RRA) to lower (Bushy) fit is nice and tight. RRA lower parts fit the Bushy lower like a glove. If I can't buy Bushmaster, I buy RRA. |
thanks for the quick reply! I'm going to place my order tomorrow then goodnight all (11.20pm here) Frens |

In 2001 after I decided I wanted to tool up I looked around and decided on a RRA, anybody else own a RRA in 2001 - why ?? Because the Wilson UT's I'd seen all had RRA lower receivers. That was all I needed to see, fellas all AR's are parts guns. Just because RRA's don't have a Horses or Snakes or a Knights in Shining Armor on the side doesn't detract from the true quality weapons they are. Would I buy them again - sure but I satisfied my black rifle monkey four years ago so why should I when there are thousands of dollars in accessories I need to get - still ! It cracks me up the way Colt owners always jump onto RRA threads and mention the superiority of Colt products when in Colts threads all Colt owners ever do is whine about shitty customer service and Colt aint selling to the public anymore and the lack of spare inexpensive parts etcetera when almost all the parts are the same. Seems like COLT could also be BOHICA ...Would I own a Colt - yes but not at Colt prices, ask me do I want to pay $114.00 for a 4 position CAR extension tube? (buffer tube) - thats what a Colt tube sells for in Brownells - JEEZ - I settled on a DPMS since I could not get one from RRA I got it for $14.00 ! Many advantages to a RRA ... |
