| I have a early, but politically correct , Colt "Law Enforcement Carbine" ( M-4 wannabe). It has the "New Colt" Bolt, with the open unringed rear. Is there any reason why I can't use a M-16 bolt in this ? Any advice would be most appreciated ! |
| You are discussing bolt carriers not bolts proabably but not sure. As your question is worded right now its not understandable. All bolts are the same no full auto or semi bolts. If you mean carriers then if you dont have a raised sear block you can run an M16 carrier if you want. |

Are you talking about the big part that you can see through the ejection port when the rifle's in battery, or the smaller part that actually turns to lock the chamber? Big difference here. You should be able to use ANY standard bolt carrier in any standard upper. It's not a good idea to swap bolts around, since that could affect headspace on the rifle and thus safety. |
| Thanks gentlemen. (Newbie strikes), I should have confined my question to the carrier only. It is the carrier on my Law Enforcement Carbine that is so different from either current semi-auto or M-4/M-16 production configuration and I was concerned about interchanability as a result of the differences. Glad yo hear I can use virtually any surplus carrier ( or bolt for that matter ). |
