Looking to pick up a 9mm Ar15 or parts kit. Who makes the best for the money? I don't want a COLT. I've always liked my Bushmaster. Looking for something possibly with a 14.5 in SBR.

TIA

You've just answered your own question but dont want the best, you'll have to settle for second best

Try an RRA, they work rather well.

better yet go down a couple threads to the .22 rimfire and pistol caliber forum and read up

Been thinking of building the missus one. Been collecting up parts here and there. Just ready for a barrel and mag well block.

I’ve gotta agree with that.

I found a good used 9mm Colt and SBRed it. I’ve never had any problems with it.

I do understand that the RRA product is supposed to be pretty good. Stay away from ASA.

Not to turn your thread into gun prOn, think of it as encouragement. This little thing is at the very top of the list of fun and favorites list of all my guns.

If your gonna SBR it go shorter. As short as possible. 9mm AR's do not use a gas system so shorter barrel won't hurt. Plus a 9mm doesn't need much barrel to get up to speed.

I want one of the Olympic 9mm lower that take the unmodified glock magazines. I just don't want an oly upper

I thought about going shorter too, but wanted to stick with somewhat of a factory look, so 10.5-inches.

Here is a picture of mine.  I decided to go with the Oly system on a Bushy lower.  I didn't want to pay through the nose for mags and at the time a buddy of mine was having holy hell getting his 16 to run with a Colt 634 upper--------> YMMV.  I SBR'd the lower, cut bbl to 10" on a lathe and I absolutely love it.  To date I have about 2600 rounds out of it with 3 failures (shooting the cheapest sweep up off the floor range reloads that someone GAVE me).  Going to put another 1200 or so out of it on Monday at my Birthday shoot/2nd Amendment party.  I bought the 15 sten mags for $3.99 each from Tapco and all of them work flawlessly.  It doesn't have last round hold open but then neither does an MP5.  I am using a shortened KKF paddle mag release.  Also, you can stick the Oly upper on any .223 stock lower and it will work.   No new hammers, no trigger bite, just bone stock lower.

Oly 9mm SBR thread

Good luck with your purchase- 9mm AR's are fun!!

I got an upper for sale in the EE.  Uses 30 round sten mags with blocks welded on, so they just slide into a lower like a normal AR mag.

Here's a pistol version.
If you SBR it, you can add a stock and forward pistol grip.

Since the pic was taken, I added a slightly longer float tube, to cover more of the barrel.
I'm building another one, with a shorter barrel, to go with the short float tube.
