My friend just got a Colt AR-15 that's a few years old. The top of the barrel says: " C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 " Can you tell me anything about these markings? Is this their standard chrome lined 5.56 NATO caliber with a 1/7 twist barrel? What does the "C MP" mean? |
The "profile" is the barrel diameter from chamber to muzzle. For example, a 20" government profile is light under the handguards and heavier from the front sight base out to the muzzle. A standard M4 profile is light under the handguards, heavier from the front sight to the muzzle, and has an about 1" long cutout about 1/2 way between the front sight and muzzle. An HBAR profile is heavy the whole way out, while a light profile is light the whole way out. |
This sounds like it. Thanks.. About 10 inches of barrel under the handguards looks light...then it thickens back up to meet the sight block on out to the birdcage. |
