| So, where do we get these things? Any direction is appreciated, thanks. |
There will no doubt be a new poster out by the 2006 shot show, with various changes/upgrades. I can't help but wonder if there will be three different hand guards used, since they awarded KAC, A.R.M.S., and Danial Defense, each a contract for $16,666.666 each for railed forends. Crane also gave out awards to different optic makers and new mounts required to have throw levers. I'm told that there will also be a new folding rear iron sight down select, but that contract hasn't been awarded yet. ![]() Jack |

I've got a brand new one still rolled up back in my gun room. I'll get around to hanging it up sometime. It came from the local Army surplus store for $5. We're just minutes from Crane, so that's probably why it was easily available for me. I hear that there are currently three versions of it out (Block 1, Block 2, and Block 3) showing the newer upgrades, but I've never seen the others. The one pictured above is the first version, which is Block 1. You might try contacting someone at NSWC Crane, as I've also heard the rumor that they give them away to civilians for free. |
I didn't find the poster, but I did find some of the better M4 pix I ve seen This is the 2005 M4 SOPMOD issue (according to the site) ![]() "New" visible light (Insight technologies) ![]() and my personal favorite

Are you P.N.? If so, that is some impressive work.............! |
At your service. Thank you! |
I got a good pic a few weeks back http://home.comcast.net/~drewcoolness99/SOPMOD_2-2005.jpg that big enough? |
In the kAC SOPMOD poster it's marked 'ECOS-N'. In the orginal SOPMOD kit it was not used - the Reflex was the optic selected. If you are reffering to the Block II poster (marked: MDNS) then you are correct it isn't there (but the EOTech is).
Which poster are you reffering to? The only one with the SIR is the Block II poster and the SIR was one of the 3 railed systems that were selected (and all 3 are shown). |
Neither of these photos "vindicate" the set-up ![]() ![]() They came from -----> This site. (Insert Asian joke ________here_____) In fairness, I believe photographer was assembling various configs. and wasn't an end- user. IMO It is shown elsewhere with the Aimpoint, and that does work. Good catch though |
When I mount my PEQ-2 on top in-line with the ACOG, it doesn't obscure the FOV too bad. |
Since I am a big eotech fan (although I own an M2) it was more of a jab at the aimpoint fans than anything.......just a joke. I had already heard EOTECH 553 was getting the SOCOM contract. As for the SIR that is the first I had heard it had won any contract for SOPMOD or anything else for that matter. Anyone know why it was selected? Does there really need to be three different rail systems? |
Check here----->Crane.navy.mil those are contact names/numbers with Crane the division that tests products, and awards and administers contracts for the military. Here is the HomePage------>Crane Homepage Use their search feature for mucho info edit 4 spleil-chucker |
I guess since I only live 10 minutes from Crane, I'll have to take the initiative to find out how we can get the posters. I have a large wall poster of the original SOPMOD configuration, but that it the only version of the various posters that I own. |
