Could someoen tell me the difference between the Larue, YHM, GGG gas blocks etc. Is there a reason why some of these gas block are such high priced? Do they perform the job better than others?

Some are designed lighter, the LaRue has a different means of attachment.  Some are better looking than others, or come from superior manufacturers.

Bump.

On a good day yes, under stress, maybe not.

The original A2 gas block / FST is pinned through the barrel twice and is made of steel.  It pretty much can't go anywhere, and can't twist.

You really don't want your gas block moving and obstructing the gas flow (ie, forward/back) and if it's also your front sight foundation, you don't want it rotating either.    On some of them, only set screws hold it in place.

I have seen aluminum gas blocks get hot, expand faster than the steel barrel they were mounted on, and slip forward under recoil.

Some things to think about.
