| I have a friend that is interested in selling his grenade launcher he has fro his AR-15. It is a 40mm. Could you tell me what the value of one of these is? I don't know the make and model. I just need a general idea on the value of one. |
| A 40mm grenade launcher is a destructive device, and requires special paperwork, and may be illegal in certain states. Are you sure its not a 37mm? If it has all its proper paperwork, and is a real/rebuilt m203, it may well be worth 3000USD+ If its a 37mm lookalike (such as a cobray) i wouldnt say more than 150 bucks used. |

In case you didn't know: At least $200, as that is the tax you must pay to own one, after all the proper paperwork is filled out and approved, as the posession of 40mm grenade launchers is controlled. Also consider that each round is considered a destructive device and you have to pay a $200 tax on each round you want to own, and that takes paperwork, also. |
Only HE rounds are considered DDs and need registration. M781 practice rounds (chalk filled), smoke, flare, less lethal anti-personnel rounds, 22 LR adapters and 12 gauge adapters are not considered DDS, so you can use them without paying $200 each. New LMT 40mm launchers can be had for around $2,000 to $2,500. Colt launchers are more expensive (duh) and run about $3,000 to $3,500. You will need to fill out an ATF Form 4 to transfer it to you, which means getting CLEO signoff, fingerprints, passport photo, $200 and about a 6 month wait. |

The CM2037 is a 37mm FLARE LAUNCHER and is about 200 - 250 new, depending on the vendor. Some say it can take a CS grenade, but i doubt it. Its usually steel barreled, and made by RPB, you can take out the stop screw and use longer length 37mm cartridges with it. EDIT: Bushmaster sells these enw for 200 bucks with a rifle length handguard. |
Actually you are incorrect with the Edit. Bushmaster now sells the Etc.inc 37mm launchers, they no longer carry the Cobray's. I checked. |
