I've narrowed down my choices for a new AR and I'm not sure which way to go. I could use some serious advice here.

I will use this weapon for fun and defensive purposes and not put more than a couple of hundred rounds though the barrel in a years time. I will shoot tracers (for fun) and will be putting a Trig optic site on it too.

Should I get a RRA with a SS 16", 1:8  barrel entry level carbine, or a POF upper with the new gas piston setup in chome lined (not sure if they even offer CL barrels) 1:9???  That would mean I have to buy anoter damn lower just to shoot it.

I'd like a barrel in 16" 1:7 twist with the POF gas system but they don't exist that I know of, and the price for just the upper is more than the RRA with the SS 1:8.  Decisions suck...........!!!!

Thanks for your opinions.

Either one will work fine.  I would buy the cheaper, and spend the rest on mags and ammo.

Woa now! Hey... I don't claim to know all there is to know about ARs but, what I do know for sure is that once this "Black Rifle Disease" thing sinks it's dirty little stinking fangs into your soft pink flesh, you're sure as hell gonna put more than a "couple of hundred rounds through the barrel in a years time"!

The only way I can see you not putting a couple hundred rounds through it is because you had to buy another one and the new one's sucking up all the ammo instead!

I see you've made 82 posts so... I may be all wrong about this but... well, I couldn't just stand by and watch this happen...

Good luck
