| I'm fairly new to owning AR's and was wondering if it was possible to swap upper recievers? Like, if you had an A2 complete rifle, is it possible to buy an A3 upper and take the A2 off and put the new A3 upper on to make it better for scoped shooting? |

TylerM_8 Yes it is possible to switch uppers. That is what makes the AR such a versatile and addictive rifle to own, see BRD (black rifle disease) in other threads. Some guys myself included keep a complete BCG for each upper. While this is by know means required I would suggest it. As long as you watch the head space one upper vs. another you'll be ok. There's the hook... Then you'll tell yourself: "gee, stripped lowers are so cheap, I'll just build another so they'll both be complete..." Then you say "well that was easy except for bouncing a spring off my face and into a parallel universe, so now I want to build an upper too" Then you'll have to build another lower for that... So the disease begins. Welcome to the show. |
Damn! I new there was something wrong with me. |
There was always something wrong with me too...till I bought a few AR's. I feel much better now. |
