I'm looking to purchase a factory DCM rifle. A friend of a friend is selling his Bushmaster DCM. I've been told it has only 300 rnds through it. He followed all the proper break in procedures. He's selling because he just gave up shooting as a hobby. I haven't seen it for myself yet or talked to the owner. I'm not sure what extras he'll throw in either. What's an average fair price for this? I guess he paid $1300ish a few years ago. Rumor has it he's looking for $900 now. I can probably do better because he sold all his other guns but is having a hard time moving this one. For those with experience with this model, what's your opinion of it? Are there things I should look for with it? Does it have known, specific quirks? Please guys, refrain from the "you can get a better gun for a lot less if you buy a <insert brand>" replys. I'm asking specifically about the Bushmaster DCM. thanks, bessonguy |

Here's a similar thread for you to check out: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=233712 BTW, welcome to the site. |

IMO, a Bushmaster DCM isn't worth more than $900 new, and no more than $700 used. That's because there are rifles as accurate as it, with FAR better triggers for that same money. Rock River, as a matter of fact. Offer him $800 if he's your buddy. Otherwise, walk. It ain't worth more. |

I have a DCM and I'm very happy with it. It out shoots me and I've had no problems with it at all with about 2500 rounds through it. As stated above though, if you can get it for $800 go for it. With a little effort you should be able to get a lower put together from parts and a quality upper for not too much more. CD |

Thanks guys. That's exactly the advice I was looking for. So for the Bushmaster, $800 is a fair upper limit if it's mint, $900 is too high. As I have read other places too, I would probably appreciate a trigger upgrade. Thanks for pointing me towards the RRA NM. It does make sence to pay a little more for a new one that performs similarly to the used bushy. RRA's web site says there is a 30-60 delay for delivery. I should call them to check that out. I am hoping to do some shooting this summer. I've lived in my area for 3 years now, but haven't found a cheap FFL to deal with. I'll have to ask around at the gun show this weekend. Thanks again, BessonGuy |
| BeesonGuy, this guy almost always has Rock River NM rifles in stock. That's where I got mine. |
