Well, I finally got a good scope for my AR.  It is a Bushmaster HBAR 1:9  A3.  It has been sitting in my gun cabinet almost a year now until today.  I shot 1.25" groups at 100 yards in poor visibility and lack of experience.  If i could clearly see what I was shooting at I bet I could get 1 inch groups with this gun.  My gun only has about 250 rounds through it so far.

Is 1.25" groups good for an out of the box AR?  Will the groups get tighter as I get more rounds through it?

btw,  I was using XM193.

Should shoot 1" groups with a good scope. A little practice and better conditions and you should have it.

+1

Besides, that rifle is hardly broken in yet.

If you'd get a match trigger, I bet your groups would drop quite a bit too.

1.25" groups with XM193 is outstanding. Usually that ammo is good for 2 MOA....

Sounds about right for XM193. I've actually gotten sub 1" groups with Winchester White Box, though my local wally world seems to have stopped carrying it

That's excellent for military grade ammo!

That's what I generally shoot at 50 yd using my 24" Bushmaster H-Bar. I'm not a good shooter

MIL-C-9963F
Cartridge, 5.56MM, Ball, M193

3.5, Accuracy, "The average of the mean radii of all targets of the sample cartridges, fired at 200 yards, shall not exceed 2 inches" I think it means to expect an average accuracy of about 4" groups at 200 yd and 2" groups at 100 yd.

Generally I hear the majority shoot 2"-3" groups at 100 yd using XM193.
1"-2" groups at 100 yd using XM193 is very good.

sweet! thanks for the info!

I would shoot it more often but the closest range is 30 miles away and costs $80 a year to use.  So I only shoot at home.
