i live in n.y. , and telescoping stocks are a no-no. i could use one for a shorter length of pull because i have short arms. how risky is it for me to install one on my bushy? if anyone even sees it i'd be surprised but if anyone in the position to nail me for it would i be in deep crap. if so i won't risk it. let me know

Why not just get one of the entry stocks?

<Yoda Voice> Sully Stock - You seek a Sully Stock </Yoda Voice>

Not risky at all - simple to do and perfectly legal.  With the Sully you get your choice of two pull lengths (with the included spacer).

Don't do it!, it's not worth possibly losing your right to buy firearms.

The Sully stock is a shorter 'fixed stock' that is roughly 8.25" in length.  It comes with a 1" spacer (which makes the stock just a bit shorter than an A1 sock).

Here are some pics of the stock..

Sully(8.125"), A1(9 7/8"), A2(10.5")

Even though it's only a little shorter, the A-1 stock fits me perfectly (32 inch arm length).  It feels shorter also because of the rounded buttplate rather than the A-2's square edges.  A-1's are commonly available for less than $15.  Give it a try.
