Went to the Nashville gun show this weekend and saw a AR carbine made by High Standard. 16" 1/9 (bbl wasn't pencil thin nor heavy), detachable carrying handle, CAR15 collaspable stock and baynote lug. Didn't look close to see if the FH was a A1 or A2 birdcage. Serial number was just over 00050. Looked good overall and cost under $900. Does anyone know what barrel they're using (chromed lined or not)? CD |

Never heard of High Standard making ARs. I suspect they are assembling from other mfg parts. Might be good, but i'd say it's a crap shoot until you get specs and reviews. $900 seems high for a company known primarily for match pistols and 1911s and new to ARs, though. |
you are correct, the OLD high Standard is not the New High Standard. I Don't know about Ar's, but the quality of the OLD High Standard Semi Auto 22's were TOP NOTCH |
Many were. Many were also very problematic. It was catch as catch can. I always thought they were very pretty but I always had better luck with the Woodsman. |
Wow, I was raised by a fellow who shot matches with High Standard Victors. He had 3 of them. All of them ran like tops.....1 of which still does as I shoot it on a regular basis...... DID I mention it shoots 1 hole groups? |
Victors are gorgeous, my late best friend had a Victor and it was sweet, that's for sure. I'm glad yours are top notch also!!! Keep 'em fresh, the "new" H.S. is definitely NOT up to par. Enjoy those classics!!!! |
