When an author has to quote Mein Kampf to prove "The Big Lie" about 5.56mm....no I don't start thinking, I walk away.

Had some time to kill tonight and read the article.  In summary it illustrates documented failures of the 5.56 round to provide "one-shot-one-kill" for GI's & Marines in combat.  The article is good although purely one-sided; citing only the round's detractors.  I'm curious, what do the 5.56's proponents have to say about its battle tested ability to provide "one shot stops?"

WOW!!!! A story about the 5.56/.223 round being less lethal than a .308. Gee, I never heard that one before. Who knew?

I also read something about a 30-06 being less lethal than a 125mm M1 tank round in close quarters battle. They shot a tethered one-legged pig several times in the head with the 30-06, but it just sort of stood there staring off into space. When they shot a similar swine with the M1 tank round, the pig disappeared, probably due to the concussive effect of the wound ballistics of the superior 125mm round. Alas, since there was nothing left of the pig to examine, these results are merely speculative.

Blah, blah, blah, blah...

Blah...I have talked to buddies that have been to Iraq. They have been in the shit. None of them had any complaints about the 5.56mm. They had problems with their sidearms jamming...but no problems with M4/m16's.

If these insurgents are hopped up on something or completely preoccupied with getting us out they can probably stand more than bullet from about anything. You can probably shoot a whitetail deer with a 30-06 6-7 times and it will live for awhile. Its got adrenaline going. If these guys are facing that there probably isn't much that instantly stops them.

I think a lot of American's would few war differently if we had one on our soil (in recent years). Becuase I am sure a bunch of us could take AK47 fire and still fight to live for our country.

States such as the Commonwealth of Virginia do not permit it to be used for hunting deer or bear because its lethality—with or without those enhancements--does not assure a “clean kill” on big game.

The VA prohibition on projectiles less than .23 caliber predates the common acceptance of the 5.56mm in the 60's, much less the "enhancements" he refers to (heavy OTM rounds).  That seems nothing less than a deliberately misleading statement on the authors part.

The author relies on too many half-truths to be taken as credible, the above is but one example of several half-truths in that piece.

He is blatantly cherry picking data to support his preconcieved notions.

It does indeed make me think.  It makes me think that any idiot with a word processor and an agenda can selective construct an thesis and make it sufficiently palatable in appearance to be willingly consumed by the gullible and unknowing.

"Big Lie" might indeed be the right title for the piece but not for the reasons the author presupposes.

Alabama use to requre at least .25 cal. ammo to hunt deer.    Man, I killed all kinds of deer with my  little .25 cal pistol.   LOL

Now the law only calls for centerfire ammo.

To this day, I'm still trying to make the correlation between state hunting laws meant to pacify animal rights activists into being satisfied a deer was "humanely" killed with a big enough caliber and what that has to do with a military cartridge and how it performs on humans. There is NO direct relationship between the 8 point cousin Billy shot last year and a 3rd Worlder high on Allah and armed with an AK and motivated with a desire to do bad things to Americans.

They hypocracy of hunting laws is allowing the hunting of deer with bow and arrows and dissalowing the use of .22 centerfire cartridges which are a helluva lot more likely to cleanly kill a deer.
