It doesn't matter which way you go.  If you get two uppers, the upper without a lower will grow one by itself, anyway, at least that's been my experience.

I'd look at that new DPMS M4 profile .308 carbine - they call it the PANTHER™ LONG RANGE 308 C
16” AP4 CARBINE (RFA2-308AP4)
. Same profile as a 16" M4 type AR, but in .308.

Handy, yet packs a wallop. DPMS now makes the metal quality 20 round mags that can be had for about  $29, and it also accepts Knight's SR25 mags.

I love the configuration of this 7.62x51mm rifle.



Unfortunately, dealers are having a hard time keeping them in stock, I understand.
