Gem-Tech Halo on an AR10, sounds fun!

Could the “Carbine M4 Extended Length Hand Guard” be something like a DD9.5 for their CQBRs?

Is it just my math skills, or are they spending about $1900 per pistol?

I wonder what # the State Dept. is on the waiting list for those M4s?

That's what it looks like.

$284,850.00/150= $1899

What is the usual cost for a SA 1911?

eta:  I guess that is probably right since the MSRP for the FBI version is like $2395

After reading it, it sound like they want to buy ARMS SIRs and/or Troy MRFs that are longer than standarrd (fit around the Front Sight Base like the SIR#58 M-MOD).  The details (detachable rails of specified length) would seem to indicate a strong preference for the SIR system; as would the request it be in Tan (only the SIR is part plastic that can be molded in tan).

The wierd thing is requests them for A3/A4 uppers.  In the Military A3s are fixed handles (i.e. A2 uppers) only full-auto, and the A4s are the flattops.  I don't know if the person writing the spec was confused or just use the commercial nomenclatures.

Sounds like a 2-piece modular monolith ...in tan ... Who makes one?

(1) Carbine M4 Extended Length hand guard. Two piece chassis that mounts piggyback to flattop A3/A4 upper receivers. Model to work around fixed M4 front sight towers. Model must accepts detachable rails and to be equipped with (2) four-inch detachable Mil-Std-1913 rails and (1) six-inch detachable Mil-Std-1913 rails, QTY 104 per unit. CLIN 002 (2) two-inch detachable Mil-Std-1913 rails, QTY 104 per unit. Color: Tan.

The HALO is 5.56 only.  They are also asking for some TPR-S cans (which are for 30 cal.) for the AR10s.

Am I reading this right?  Is this new extractor spring a replacement for the extra-strength M4 extractor spring?

Meant to ask this awhile ago, another thread just reminded me of this one.

might be for use on the short barrelled rifles, the M4 spring is already in the system, it's not a COTS

6.8MM HALOs exist, at least in prototypical form.
