I've got the Eagle Carbine case and I am very satisfied with it, it has 2 compartments, one on each side, one for the rifle with vecro straps to hold the rifle in place and the other side for "stuff", well the "Stuff" side will hold a second carbine if you fit it in just right therefore you I can fit two in the case I dont know how the others are but the Eagle is Well built |

I'd like the tool box idea more, and I like it quite a bit, if people weren't always stealing tools out of people's vehicles here. ![]() How about a case that looks like there isn't anything expensive inside? Or, one that can be attached to a vehicle (non-gun rack) like a pelican case or something so someone trying to steal it won't easily be able to remove it. Also any gun-grabbers won't notice that there's a rifle case in your car. Hmmmmmmm, now there are ideas running through my head. |
| The most common comment on my case is that instruments are stolen just as prevelently as tools. However, I will never leave my guns unattended in my car. It is actually illegal here in Hawaii to drive on any government owned road with guns in the car unless you are traveling to or from a shooting range, gun shop, gunsmith, or home. So getting your car (or firearms) stolen from your car is against the law...I'm sure it makes sence to someone. Check out the latest American Rifleman magazine and there was an article in the on gun cases designed specifically for your car or truck. For me, I just wanted a case that didn't alarm the neighbors. Or broadcast that I have guns in the house to steal. |

Go here, Tool Box AR Case. I'm thinking about doing this very soon. MJD

+1 for Bushmaster. Awesome case (even though I don't own a Bushy) |

If you are still looking, I've got the Eagle and Galati Discreet cases under $90. Let me know if I can be of any help! wiskur www.wiskur.com |
Try ETS $90 bucks for a Blackhawk padded weapons case(carries 2 weapons) they have other brands too
|
+1 A little pricey but they are nice bags and my kelly green bag is low profile. I'm surprised more folks don't own them. Maybe they aren't tactical enough. Tactical enough for the FBI though. |

Well I guess I'll be the lone voice for the TAC Force case. I am all for buying high end equipment when it makes sense and if you're a real operator and need a case that will really be used and abused everyday then one of the more expensive options may be worth it. If on the other hand you are like 99% the weekend warriors here (myself included) and are just looking for something to carry your AR back and forth to the range in (or store it in your trunk) then the TAC Force case is more than up-to-the-task and should serve you well. It's well made and a damn good value. Save the money and use it for things that really matter like extra magazines or ammo to practice with. Just my $.02...YMMV |
The idea is NOT to make your rifle look like something that isn't worth stealing. The idea of a Discrete case is to make your rifle - NOT LOOK LIKE A RIFLE. As pointed out above you should not be leaving your firearms unattended in a vehicle. Tool boxes and Guitar cases are great at that. I use both, great concealment for less than $20. |

My 20" with A2 stock and bare muzzle is 38.25" long. With A2 FS that would be ~39.25" and with a Phantom or Vortex about 39.75". So 40" is going to be tight, but it'll fit. An A1 stock is 5/8" shorter and would have a little more room. Most cases come in a 42" length for full-size ARs. The toolbox article shows the carbine separated, so you'd only need a toolbox as long as the upper, but that's still pretty big for a toolbox. I discovered on a trip last month that the Land's End soft suitcase I have is just the right size for my 16" when separated, but it needs a lot of padding to make it look like it's full of clothes. |
