I have a used in new condition DPMS lower which i installed a Model 1 Sales upper on. The rear breakdown pin pushes and slides without a hitch, but the front pin to seperate the upper from the lower has to be tapped over with a punch. In the past i've had no problems with other AR's i've had. I know there are 3 different spring tensions in the lower i was wondering if it might be a detent spring problem???Shorten the spring a fraction???

It has nothing to do with the detent or spring tension.  Either the hole in the M1S upper is slightly undersize or the two holes for the pivot in the lower are not parallel with each other.  I have seen this problem before and it has always been a problem with the lower.  As long as you can get the pivot pin in and out all the way, you should be fine.  When I've had this problem I used a little tetra greese or CLP on the pin and holes and a small 16 oz. plastic deadblow hammer to move the pin in and out, that way there nothing gets scratched up and the lube helps.

Yes sir that's how i've been getting it loose. What gets me is once removed i can push it back into place with one finger...maybe i should start using that finger to push it out.

Thanks for the reply,it's good to know i'm not the only one it's happen too...
