I did a search which is limited to 30 days and got no results. I'm just looking for a link to pictures of the different forging marks for Colt upper receivers. My 6520 upper has a marking that I have never seen before.

There's a thumbtacked thread at the top of the forum that shows more receiver markings than you can shake a stick at.  If they don't tell you what you need to know, post a picture of the markings you have questions about, and somebody here will help out.  I've done that with the markings on my Colt carry handle to make sure I really got a Colt, and in almost no time Mongo came back and confirmed that I did get what I though I had.

Besides, if your markings aren't in someone's archives, maybe they should be...

Yeah, this thumbtack is very good. I used it many times. A great reference!

I looked at the thumbtacks and didn't see any thread on upper receiver markings. I took a picture (big) so maybe that will help out the Colt guys. I was just concerned because while the barrel extention does have M4 feedramps as shown in the tacked thread, the receiver has cuts too but it looks like they were done after the fact (bare aluminum). Is this normal on the current Colt LEO 6520s?

Sorry. I haven't got all those posted yet. working on it. That could be a Cerro Forge marking.
I'm sure someone will chime in.

That's a Cardinal Forge mark, the Cerro mark is the keyhole mark.  The Cardinal Forge mark has been showing up on Colt detachable carry handles, but not on A2 receivers as far as I know.  I highly doubt that Colt would "Dremel" in feed ramps either, but you never know.

Yep I just looked it up in my image file, cardinal. This is why I need to get this stuff done. This question comes up pretty often.

My new LE6920 has the same Cardinal Forge carry handle as well. My others are Anchor Harvey.

For the sake of discussion, here is a Colt Cerro upper on an MT6400C:

And here's a Colt Alcoa on an LE6721:

off topic...since when they've put epoxy on aluminum heat shield. I was going to put a rail for the my light and foregrip and there it was. Any idea how to take it off without damaging the handguard or the heat shield.

thanks!
and sorry for hijacking your thread

by the way it was on the LE6920 handguard.

Redbone, where did you buy this upper? Was it part of a complete 6520 rifle? What are the markings on the barrel?

My old 6920 has M4 ramps in the white.   From a factory sealed Colt box.   Go to page 6 for my photos, and good info from Grandmaster Tweak:

That's a good thread.
