anyone have any pics of any homemade sight vises?  something easy to make with very little investment involved.

To get a rough 'zero' before heading to the range, with a newly barreled upper, I lock the upper in a Black&Decker Benchmate and point it out my rear door.  In my backyard, 50y away, I have a white dot I painted on a tree.  Looking through the barrel (bolt carrier is removed) I center the white dot in the barrel (adjust Benchmate as needed).  Once that is done I carefully adjust my sights so they are centered on the same white dot.

It's fairly quick, and it gets me on paper for the first round.

Great idea, I have done that for years with bolt actions but never thought about doing it with a AR upper.

I use the same method, aiming at the ball on top of the corner post of the cyclone fence in my back yard.

This method works as well, or better, than laser or other type of bore sighters.
