| Just picked up a RRA tactical entry the other day and wanted to make sure the barrel was chromelined. When looking down the barrel with a bore light, it is very shiny, almost like a mirror finish. I compared it with the barrel on my remington 700p and there is definitely a difference. I am guessing that the 700p is not chromelined and my RRA is. Any ideas? |

sounds right rem 700s or other bolt action and hunting rifles are rarely, if ever, chrome lined usually only battle and assault rifles are chrome lined for extra durablility at the cost of less accuracy (hardly noticible imo); h/w not all combat style rifles are chrome lined, which i consider stupid |
| ASSUMING your rifle is real clean: if you look in the chamber end of the barrel, a chrome-lined version will exhibit a gray gilding around the mouth of the chamber; distinct from the otherwise black surfaces. If you can pull the flash hider, you will see the same thing at the muzzle. |
