I would like to replace my colts front sight with one that has a bayo. lug. The twist is I have one of those AK Muzzle breaks on there and I dont believe it's going to slip over it.  I figure i'll just take it off alson and replace it with an A2 Flash supressor. The question is how much of a pain in the ass is it going to be to get that break off the barrel it is factory set with a crush washer. And when I replace it should I use a crush to replace it?

From reading all the threads about the front site base, unless you have the proper tools, I would not bother with it.   How about sending it to ADCO and let them do it ? They have good turn around times and they seem to do good work.

If the AK break is threaded on it will be 1000% easier to get that off than it will to get that FSB off.

it is a Mother f$%&^er of a job.  And once you get it off the real job starts then.  remember the FSB "goes" with the barrel it is mounted on.  The pinholes are drilled through the FSB the same time the FSB pin notches are drilled through the bottom of the barrel. Retro fitting a non "bolt on" FSB is a good example of a job that requires proper tools and proper knowledge.  If you did somehow get a FSB drilled and and pinned on it could very easily be canted 5 degrees one way or the other or worse.  Don't try it unless you have the right tools - send it off - that's my .02 and that's what I will probably be doing very shortly with a project of mine.  good luck..
