I have built an 11.5 commando kit with the 5.5 flash suppressor on an ASA lower (yeah, I know but I got it way back around 2000 when they were milled by another company) without the chrome lined barrel but with a bushmaster stock and hbuffer.  I was going to use the 11.5 barrel to make it a good 22lr shooter for the indoor range and keep my ammo costs down.  Does anyone have any experience with the Ciener 22 kit now that they are selling 30rdn mags again?  I know their Glock kit is considered inferior to the Advantage Arms kit but Ciener is the only company selling 30rnd mags for the AR15.  Will the hbuffer be ok or should I use my extra one that is standard weight?

The AR buffer is not used with the Ciener kit.  It is a totally self contained unit in the bolt/carrier area.

It's the standard conversion and can work very well with some polishing and tweaking.  Accuracy may be OK to good.

I've had excellent luck with the Ciener AR15/M16 kits.  The mini-14/AC556 has had some problems.  I know about 8 people with the Ciener kits in M16's and we love them!  I have about 10,000 rounds through mine and the part that looks like the .223 shell split.  I wrote to Ciener and got the part, and I'm back on the road!

Thanks!  I thought my thread was going to die.  I like the A2 look and all the 22lr uppers I have seen are flat top, no forward assist, SS bullbarrels except for the DPMS M4 and they don't offer 30 rnd mags.  I thought the 11.5 commando would be perfect for a dedicated .22 upper with the ciener kit for use at a 50 yard indoor range.  If need be I could also go back to .223.  Good to hear it performs well.

I've had one for a few years. Fine for plinking at less than 50 yards. Mine tends to double every once in a while, which is kind of unnerving. It usually happens with the first two rounds in the mag. Overall, I would recomend it for the price.

I have one as well.  Overall I've been happy with it with one exception.  I had an out of battery fire occur once due to a dirty chamber or maybe out of spec round.  I dunno, the round was destroyed so I won't know.  Didn't have anymore like that, so I don't know.

cant really call mine accurate .bore dieamiter to big for 22lr. any 22lr rifle will outshoot mine and the 30rd mags have weak springs. Get the deadicated 22lr upper if you can find one that uses cheap mags.

30 rd Ciener mags are available again at $50 each  which is a bargain compared to the 10rd mags that go for $25 each.  A Kuehl dedicated upper is pricey but it is one of the most reliable .22LR conversions out there using Ceiner's conversion.

For JAC's Glock conversions, I would agree.  They make the most pathetic POS guns I have ever seen.  I owned a Raven .22 that was more reliable.

My JAC AR15 conversion, however, ran like a champ.
