| Is it legal to own one? if so what kind of rounds can you get? tear gas etc. |
|
Yes. An M203 is a DD and requires a $200 tax stamp just like purchasing a machine gun. You can buy a Colt M203 from www.autoweapons.com. I think you can get an LMT M203 from www.clydearmory.com. Most 40mm rounds are considered normal ammunition. HE M203 rounds are DD's as well though and each require the same $200 tax stamp as the M203 itself. |
| you can get a m203 rec from randy at www.mr40mm.com for half the price of the colt one. and have a custom made 37mm barrel from him to or buy a 40mm barrel from a couple of different place and still be under 3500. |

I'm in the process of getting a Lewis Machine and Tool (LMT) M203. They run $1500 at retail with your choice of the standard 12" barrel or the commando 9" barrel. Long Mountain Outfitters is selling these, but you can also have your local FFL/SOT order one direct from LMT. You will also need to invest in a front bracket as the LMT ships without one. I bought the Knight's Armament quick detach bracket, which ain't cheap at around $300 (but important if you're a wanna-be like me). I also bought the Knight's stand-alone buttstock module for the M203 - a very cool way to use the M203 if you don't want to attach it to a rifle. As for ammo, I just bought 100 rounds of the chalk practice ammo for $500 from Jim McCloud of Manchester Firing Line in New Hampshire. You can also get parachute flares, starburst, buckshot, and many types of "less lethal" loads like rubber balls, etc. These other rounds run anywhere from $20 on up to over $100 per round. High explosive rounds are nigh impossible to get and require many, many hoops be jumped through. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Really more of a fun toy than a weapon as far as I'm concerned. Where did you get the stand alone stock and the quick detach clamp? |

I got my Knight's M203 accessories from Dennis Todd. You can email him at [email protected]. Do not expect these KAC trinkets to be inexpensive. Joe |

I am waiting on an LMT 203. I know I need a separate QD mount for the M4, but will I need something special for the 20" too? I may be wrong, but always thought the Bayonet Lug was what the M203 mounted to in the front. Pics and close-ups would be helpful and appreciated. |
