Has anyone had any experience with this company and their products? I am especially interested in their new upper receiver for interchangeable barrels. Thanks DanJ http://www.mgimilitary.com/ |

I have a question about their recoil reducing buffer. I own a Rock River Arms CAR A4. My issue (reservist) weapon is a Colt M4A1. Will the buffer fit both of them? Does it make much difference in performance? Edited to clarify that my RRA has a collapsible stock. Thanks. |

I watched the movies they had on their site... The thing I noticed is that the guy shooting still got pushed around alot for someone shooting an M16 with a verticle grip... Mark_J I dont think that having a "buffer system" like that is going to make much noticable difference over just using a heavier buffer like a 9mm buffer... |
the buffer is actually a car size buffer and to use it in a rifle lenght stock you add a supplied spacer to the back of the tube. i have one for my .50 beowulf which i havent had time to shoot yet. but all the guys in the variant section loves it and notices a substantial amount of difference. i will give a little review when i get back from the range later today |

I have every item that MGI makes on my AR carbine. All of it ROCKS! The QCB upper is so cool for barrel changes and caliber changes, and is super fast to change barrels. I think the "Sten-style) free float tube is awesome looking too. I started out with just the D-Fender, and when that worked so good, I got the adjustable gas tube and the RRB buffer. Wow! The controllability was really alot better for fast shooting. I could keep my eyes on the target thru the scope, the whole time I was firing. The speed for target acquiring was way faster than before. Then I got the QCB and now I can use my 1/12" twist barrel for my 22LR kit, and my 1/7" barrel for my M855 and my 1/9" twist barrel for my M193. I plan to get some other calibers now, too. I'm just waiting for the new Modular lower receiver, so I can use other mags like AK-47 with my barrel/bolt conversions. I got all my stuff from MGI's sales manager [email protected] who was really helpful in explaining the stuff to me, and the stuff arrived quickly. I really love it. Had most of the stuff for a year now, and the QCB only a few months. And like the other guy above said, this RRB buffer seems to be like a universal buffer that works really good with all calibers, even the big stuff like 50 Beowulf, and an AR10, but still also works great on regular M193 too. I don't know how they do it, but it's reliable with all kinds of calibers. I have the carbine model, but they have a rifle one too. Anything you get, you will notice an improvement over the standard replacement. But except for the QCB, it is all internal parts, so it won't do much for dress-up, but it sure makes the gun work better. |
OK, here's a dumb question. I have the buffer and the spacer for use in a standard A2 buttstock. In what order do I "load" the receiver extension? I thought: 1. Action spring (standard rifle length spring) 2. Buffer 3. Spacer But reading your post, should it be: 1. Spacer 2. Spring 3. Buffer TIA for any help. |

Yeah, the spacer goes in at the back end of the receiver extension tube, and then the spring goes in, and then the buffer. The buffer has to contact the back of the bolt carrier. The spacer is just to take up the extra space at the back of the receiver extension tube, so that the carrier travels only back as far as it is supposed to. The spacer has a "top hat" shape, and it nests into the coils of the spring at the back of the receiver extension tube. The widest diameter of the spacer part goes to the back. |
