Hi everybody. I started rather unusual project and would like to get community opinion on it.
The project is to build modular weapon system on the AR-15 base which will allow to solve any tactical/hunting task possible within limitation of AR-15 platform. For example 6.5 Grendel  should allow sniping work out to 800-900 yards, and big bore caliber as 458 SOCOM or 440 Corbon will allow you to gather extra edge in CQB or large game hunting situations. Different types of accessories and hardware will optimize use in different situation. Heart of the project will be MGI Military Quick Barrel Change uppers – they will allow me to switch between different calibers/barrel lengths.

Description of the project.
2 MGI uppers with  pistol grip on 1 and  QD Harris Bipod on another.
2 Bushmaster PreBan Lowers :
1) set up for precision work – 2 stage trigger at around 2 lbs, Panther Palm rest grip, some stock with configurable butplate/ check piece(maybe Medesha).
2) set up for CQB situations – Erogrip grip, 1 stage trigger at around 3-3.5 lbs, collapsible butstock(probably MagPul).

Following set of barrels/bolts: - they all will have KKF pushrod gas system if it works with caliber
223 Ackley Improved 24” fluted/bead blasted, probably Krieger (1-9 twist),
223 AI 16”  fluted/bead blasted, probably Krieger (1-9 twist)
6.5 Grendel  - what ether Scott Medesha will suggest – 20-24”
7.62x39 – because I already have barrel and bolt.
1 Big Bore barrel - question – should it be 440 Corbon, 458 Socom or 50 Beowulf.

Each barrel might have just a muzzle break or changeable MB/ flash hider.  For Flash Hider I will use Phantom 5-2, for MB – what ether caliber dictates.
Optics – I will have a set of IOR Tactical 4x14 and 1.1x4 with illuminated reticules, AimPoint and maybe Trijicon Accupoint 1.5x6, all in QD mounts (la Rue and ARMS) and all will switch aiming point between barrels based on the table of clicks.

Questions:
1) Could I use rate recoil reducing buffer and if yes – which one.
2) Suggestions for a collapsible and especially sniper butt stock.
3) Choice of big bore caliber – pros and cons of any of them( maybe I should get 2 like 440 and 458 to cover different ends of spectrum)
4) Detachable backup sights
5) Any other accessories
6) Any other interesting calibers – maybe 5.45x39, 45 APC, etc….
7) Any general suggestions, questions and critique is accepted

i believe the beowulf uses your 7.63x39 bolt.  saves you a few bucks.

why the facination with swapping barrells?  why would you want the same optic on all these wildly differently performing loads?

I agree on the bolt but saving $120 is not the end of the world. Now for optics - I would love to have a sepparate scope for each barrel and maybe even 2 for some but considering prices on the good glass it would be cost prohibitive ;). As for optics - thouse 3-4 scopes will cover prety much any possable use, and I've come up with my little system to quickly rezero them between barrel changes

Also intrested in advises on internal accesories like extende mag release. - Also names of true AR-15 gurus would be highly appreciated.

I see this is your first post.  Welcome.  If I were going to spend the huge wads of cash you are going to need for this project I would contact an outfit like Lauer Custom Weaponry located on the industry forum, or talk to Tony Rumore who is great AR15 guru.

While it's my first post I'm not a novice to the weapons and Ar-15s. I've build(customised quite a few guns including couple of 1/4 of MOA AR15s as well as .5 MOA AR carabine based on the OLY PRT93 with detachable stock(allways rides in my trunc) Click here for my gun pictures. I did talke to Tony Rumore - very knovelegable  and plesant person and looking for an additional information/ knoowelege from this community.  Thanks for an info on Lauer Custom Weaponry.

use some sort of pigtail like device to regulate gas flow combined with a m-14 style bolt and schuster nut to bleed unnecessary gas flow, use bolts matched with barrels you should be able do do all you wish with existing parts with a few mods.

No real need for the fancy schmancy calibers; .223 can do it all.

I too am building a AR "system".

Ther will be four variants:

General Pupose Carbine: C7 upper, Cav C-1 buttstock, 16" lightweight barrel

Infantry Carbine: Flat-top upper, Aimpoint, VLTOR, 16" medium (.750/.650) barrel

Enhanced Accuracy Carbine ("Recce" type) : Flat-top upper, TA-31F, VLTOR, 16" heavy (SPR type- .825/.750) FF barrel

Enhanced Accuracy Rifle ("SPR" type) : Flat-top upper, Mk4 MRT, clubfoot VLTOR, 24" heavy ("SPR" type) FF barrel

Fun stuff!

Check out the Cobb MCR rifle.  I think it should be pretty close to what you are looking for.  If nothing else it would add nicely to your collection.  All those pretty rifles and nothing bigger than .308?
