2 Fulton Armory  3 Clark (GATOR) 4 Wilson Combat .   What  is the best bang for the buck.
This will be my first AR, as I have a pss in 308 for long range .Will use gun out to 300yds.

I have a Fulton Armory Predator with a Krieger barrel and it shoots less than 0.5" MOA with my Leupold scope.  Very satisfied.

Check out JP Enterprises for truly high end AR's. I have a 24" gun from him for varmint hunting.... it's awesome beyond belief.

IMHO, those "high end" guns are nothing other than guns that you or I can build with off the shelf components (from ADCO, for example), painted a fancy color (Krylon, $2.99 from Wal-Mart) and stuck with a premium sticker.  I would seriously take a look at the RRA, Bushmaster or Armalite factory varmint guns and spend the rest on good mags and ammo.

Those are high-end primarily in price only

while I am not disparaging any of them, I believe you could realize a "best AR" by getting a Colt or Bushmaster lower, and add a trick upper, and then the right accessories to suit your taste

That would be the best value, and best eventual gun------- for me anyway

sounds like you will have the AR bug in no time.................Enjoy!!!

ETA:  From a Redfish-er to a Bluefish-er...........Welcome to the site !!!

Just get a Bushmaster Varminter and be done with it. Spend the $$$ you save compared to the ones you listed on mags & ammo for your Bushy.

High end performance, or high end price?

As has been said before (but cannot be overemphasized), go for an offering from the likes of Rock River or Bushmaster.

Get a Bushy or a Rock. Forget about Colt.

Of these I would go with the Les Baer, as out of these 4 mfgs the Baer has impressed me the most.
My NRA Match rifle came with a test target with four 5 shot groups all less than .27" fired off sandbags at 100 yards.  In actual competition it has proven to be a hammer at 600 yards, is monotonously reliable with ZERO malfunctions, and looks good.  My Thunder Ranch rifle is also very impressive.  Yes, they are very expensive.  But if I was going to spend the money and had to choose from this list, I'd pick Les Baer.  Second on my list would be Fulton Armory, they make a fine rifle.

Love my JP!

Gunwritr, have you compared JP to the other "high enders".

The number of JPs winning 3 gun competitions is what sold me.
Check them out at www.jprifles.com

An OlyArms 24" Stainless Ultra Match is probably the most accurate out of the box AR you can buy, and is a great value.
