I've got an M4 barrel with a y-comp attached. Could anyone suggest a good place to to have it removed and swaped out with something else?

Do you know how the y-comp is attached, and what is the barrel length with the y-com removed?  If it is pinned and soldered on to a threaded 16" barrel, you can probably do it yourself.

I've removed a couple of brakes since 9/14, but not a y-comp.

If you can't or don't want to do it yourself, ADCO or Kurt's Kustom can do it.  Kurt is usually pretty backlogged.  Either of them do good work.

It's Kurts! I couldent remember. It's a Bushmaster 14 1/2. I think its blind pinned and welded. Is there anything I could do with it?

the Y-comps are pressed on and pinned.  You will have to have the barrel treaded to attach and weld the FH. I suggest sending it to ADCO.

My y-comp was threaded on and pinned.  I got it off by drilling out the welds and they just fell out. I then just unscrewed it.  The hard part was for me to pin and weld on another (Phantom 2C).  Wasn't difficult, but I desparately wanted to keep it un-pinned..but alas, getting caught with an unregistered SBR is not worth it....

Wilson Combat will do it for you.Give them a call  and talk to a rep.Right now they are installing A2 type flashiders for $75 dollars. If they have to remove your brake it's a little more that's why you need to speak to them first..They also have a brake that looks like a FS for about $97 installed.Turn around time is quick, my  flatop was back in a little over 2 weeks when i had them install the brake. They did a great job.
