How do I get the pin out and also the front push pin. To install rollpin? I never did it before. It does not look like rocket science but I need to know what tools exactly so I can go buy them.

P.S. I have the hammer

You need a small punch or something similar to punch the roll pin out. For the front pin you just need to depress it and then the trigger guard will come out.

To install the new trigger guard just put it in place, hammer in the roll pin and then you'll need a standard L-wrench, I can't remember the size offhand, and just screw it in. With the punch, hammer and L-wrench the whole process should take about two minutes.

On mine I found it easier to put the front set screw in first, then hammer in the roll pin. There's more "forgiveness with the pin then the screw.

I agree with Lancelot. Put the front screw in first then pound in the roll pin.

Looking for the perfect tool for this task? Try an AR-15 firing pin. It works perfectly.

I highly recommend getting a set of roll pin punches, and roll pin starter punches. They are the right tools for this job, and everyonly who works on AR15's should have sets of them.

BACK SUPPORT for the trigger guard "tangs" when driving the roll pin! Many, many, have broken one off during assembly.

Tac-Shooter must remember boot camp, because the firing pin can remove every roll pin on the AR15/M16 and still be functional-tap them out with the handle of your bayonet and your firing pin! Thus the term field repairs!

Does anyone know exactly what size allen is needed to set the front screw? I've tried a couple of different sizes, and they either won't fit (too big), or they turn a bit then start slipping (too small).

I'm looking for the "JUST RIGHT" size.....
