I dont know where to post this so im posting this here.Im looking for a good gunsmith who can mill my front sight base flat to look like a V-match gasblock so I can mount a Bushmaster BMAS flip front sight around it.Buying a clamp on gas block or one that uses set screws isnt an option for me.I would like a nice clean machine job with no sharp edges and then refinished in mil. spec. phosphate.I have a link to bushmasters site that shows the sight I want to use and how its clamped around the V-match gasblock.I have not ordered the sight as I want to make sure I find someone to do this first.I dont want a hackjob and would really like a professional that has a mill and proper tools. Thanks Link: www.bushmaster.com/shopping/bmas/yhm-9360k.asp |
The taper pin issue may make it a little harder than you think. Shaving the original gas block is likely the easiest thing to do in the long run. Cutting the tower off with a band saw and contouring the remainder of the gas block smooth doesn't seem like that hard of a job, provided you have access to tools like that. Wouldn't be one of my favorite Dremel/bench grinder projects, though. |
