You can buy whatever lower you want. There is no ban anymore so you need not worry about when a gun was made. Thats what the whole ban lifting is about.

I dont live in Texas, so I cant say for certian, but I'm pretty sure Texas doesnt have a state ban on  "assault" rifles.

The way the ban worked, when it was in affect, was that you could have any of the "evil" features on a pre-ban lower, or you could have none of them.

On post ban lowers, you COULD NOT have any of the "evil" features.

But, none of this matters now, as there is no ban in affect, except for those unlucky guys who live in those commy states.

So you mean any post ban lower can be used on a pre or no ban upper. Right?

You need to check your state laws, unless they have no AWB then it doe'snt matter what you do as long as you don't build a illegal SBR or FA.

Well I had a dealer tell me I had to have a no ban or a pre ban lower to be legal so it made me raise an eye brough. This was at a gunshow this past weekend. Thanks to all, Sniper243

Figures. We have a Texas Forum here: Texas Forum We often have a thread dedicated to the useless info, ripoffs, etc, at local gun shows. Yours would have been a strong contender.

Pre/Post/No have no meaning in Texas anymore.

The barrel needs to be at least 16" long, and overall the rifle needs to be at least 26".  It must also be semi-auto only, unless you manage to buy a registered lower receiver to build a machine gun-this is doable, but VERY expensive.

In other words, GO FOR IT!  Welcome to the world of the AR!

Was this dealer at the market hall gun show and from Dallas Ft Worth area? If so who was he? That is pure BS and no FFL in the State of Texas should be spouting that crap.

DR, Yes it was at the Market Hall show but I don't remember which one it was.(big show) I do agree he should keep his mouth shut about it if all he can do is frazzle people. Also I am not real sure he was a FFL holder.Anyone can rent a table.I did not think about that when I first posted this thread. He did have a couple AR-15 on his table. Thanks, Sniper243

P.S. Thanks renegadeX I did not know about that forum.
