This is my primary home defense weapon.  I prefer the A2 with a forward mounted optic on the rail system. I have found this to be the fastset configuration I have ever used. If you use an A2, or an A1 for that matter, let's see it.

Nice rigs! However, for home defense, I would use somthing with a little less velocity.  A .223 will go through your house like butter, but if you have no neighbors. Then Lock & Load!

Nope.

Hang around here for a while and you will learn the truth. 5.56(.223) will penetrate less through common building materials than will pistol rounds, slugs, or buckshot. If you don't believe me ask the FBI. They have done extensive testing on the issue.

only if you are shooting  a AR w/ a .50 BMG upper

shooting a 5.56 indoors is less likely to perifforate walls than 12ga buck or most pistol cartrages

BubbySG1 - Check out the ammo oracle for lots of information on 5.56 performance and penetration.

Here is a pic of my AR when she was "new".   She currently has an M4 stock and the barrel is off getting "un-banned"

There’s my A2, super plane Jane K.I.S.S. rifle!

It’s all Bushmaster with a 1/9 A2 contour barrel. I’ve got about 500 trouble free rounds through her so far and nary a problem.

Not for home defense, just for fun. I wanted it so I would have something super simple and straightforward to take out and shoot at tin cans in the mud. Where there’s mud in Oregon, there’s rain and she isn’t any safe queen. The pic below is from out last Oregon arf.com shoot.

Man that green A2 with the m4 type barrel is SWEET.

I may have to build a green CAR now!
