DPMS  has 223 on their barrels,but their actually chambered   for 5.56.

Have one marked .223 and have shot plenty of 5.56 thru it with no problems.

what about the other way around.  can you shoot 223 out of a 5.56 barrel?

No safety/reliability issues.

However shooting 5.56 out of a .223 barrel MAY cause reliability issues (casings sticking).  Depends on the particular ammo and how close to the minimum .223 dimensions your chamber is cut.

I've seen .223 chambered rifles choke on Winchester Q3131A (5.56) and I've seen them eat it with ease.

DPMS  chambers are actually & no buts  about it, chambered for 5.56, dont know why they marked 223 on their barrels.

Their the only AR makers that does that.

There a link  to that fact floating around here some where.
