I am new to the board so please bear (Grrrrrrrr) with me. I have a PCR 16 Oly that works fine but the float tube(round) gets pretty hot pretty quick under fast fire. Does anybody know how to help keep it cool?

Shoot underwater??? It really shouldn't be a problem.  How many rounds are you putting through it at one time?  Is it getting so hot that it is melting or you can't hold it anymore?

After a 100 or so(+/-) rounds it will get so hot you cant hold onto it,maybe another guard is in order? Thanks for the help.

If your doing 100rd mag dumps that doesn't sound to out of line to me.  It is possibly that the hanguards might be cheap and thin so replacing them might help.

Those round aluminum FF tubes are known to have heat dissipation problems, even the Bushy one with additional longitudinal slots.  These things are a terrible idea, they transmit heat from the barrel and gas tube to the metal handguard, as bad as the AK wood handguards that catch on fire in sustained firing.  Solution?  Get a KAC FF RAS, ARMS SIR, Daniel Defense, the new LaRue handguard, or the PRI.

DPMS ( www.dpmsinc.com ) has a slip on rubber grip that goes over aluminum tubes.

This is a common problem and nothing to do with the "quality" of your handguard. I wrapped mine with paracord and it solved the problem completely:

I'll try the paracord first, thanks for the tip.

If you unscrew the solid cover, you should be able to thread an Oly FIRSH onto it without any difficulty.  That would give you rails and greater cooling with very little effort.
