| Now, thanks to this site I can proudly say I know a pretty good deal about ARs...but I have no idea what a 'crown' is in reference to a barrel. Anyone care to explain what one is, and what the 'degree' of the crown means? |
| It helps to protect the rifling at the muzzle of the barrel. That way if you knock the muzzle around you'll not hit the rifling, at least that's the theory. Since the muzzle end of the barrel is the last part of the barrel that the bullet will touch you want this part to be as perfect as possible. |
