| My AR seems to have trouble stripping the first round off of a magazine when closing the bolt using the bolt release button. It does this even if I only load 27-28 rounds in a 30 rounder. It does not have any trouble stripping rounds while firing, just when taking the first one. |

It's possible it can be a combination of problems... Has the AR seen lots of rounds or still 'new'? If still new it could be that bearing surfaces are still rough, lots of rounds fired could indicate a weak buffer spring, strong enough to cycle when fired but too weak to cycle manually. Is the problem occuring with all your magazines or just a specific few? If it's happening with all or a majority of your magazines check the carrier key and gas tube for fit, there should be no binding as the tube enters the key. Are the feed ramps smooth? Check the carrier for any marks that could indicate the carrier or firing pin is binding on the hammer slowing its motion. You ARE properly lubing to the -10, right? If you can provide some additional information like make or homebuilt, ammo used and type of magazines it may be easier to narrow down... |
