Man this is an expansive question.

First there are only a couple kinds that I will go over.  There are two good rail covers from MagPul, and two good rail covers from TangoDown.

We'll start with the MagPuls.

First is the MagPul Extended Length Rail Protector or "Ladder Panels".  These are extremely low-profile as they actually fit into the recesses between the rails.  These rails are easy to cut to your specific length and come in a long and short size IIRC.  I have a length of this kind of rail on the top of my RAS-II because I wanted a low-profile guard there to keep from handling the rather sharp RAS edges.  Below is a picture.

The second rail cover from MagPul is the MagPul XT Textured Rail Panel.  These are more like your traditional KAC rail cover in that they actually cover the entire rail, not just fit into the gaps.  These rail covers clip on and are easily removed and cut to your desired length.  I have never had a chance to handle these but I know that Troy has.    An image of these is below.

Next we come to the offering from TangoDown, the TangoDown BattleGrip Rail Cover.  There are actually 2 versions of this rail, a normal one, and one has a recess cut out of it for a tape switch for a light, much like their vertical grip.  I have not had any direct experience with these either but I hear that the texture of these resembles that of the TangoDown textured Battlegrip.  Here are some pics below.

*Note that the below photo of the TD rail cover does not show the actual recessed slot that the panel actually has to fit the light switch into it to make it "recessed" into the rail panel.

Hope this helps in your quest for the ultimate rail panel!

Or the ones from Falcon Industries, who probably makes all the ones for the other guys.

Thanks for the responses guys... I would like to find something in OD green and with a rubbery texture like the Hogue grip if they are out there...

The Falcon/ErgoGrip/CavArms covers are rubber similar to the Hogue grips and are available in plenty of different colors.

It doesn't show the colors well, but here's a pic of the green covers on a rifle with a green Hogue grip and CavArms stock.
