I have an forged OLY  AR that I would like to convert to 9mm.  Has anyone done this and how big of a project am I looking at?

I hate to say it, but I think the best route in the 9mm carbine universe right now is the Vector Uzi. The retail price is under $600 right now and the mags are down around 8-10 a piece in bulk. Very had to beat that...just mho...

you could just buy a 9mm upper from Oly and be on your way. i think they even come with a mag....

Dunno, but an NFA MP5-PDW would really make me get wood.....can't say the same for the uzi, however nicer it is.

Azmotorsports, this is a simple and quick conversion.  If you get an Oly 9mm upper you can swap the upper receiver asemble inless than a minute. You can obatin a magazine from oly or get a Socom block and use cheap Sten magazines. I have 2 9mm rifles one is a complete Oly I bought new and the other is a DPMS lower with an Oly upper. I found the 2nd upper on the EE at a reasonable  price. The conversion to OLY was the easiest as you don't have to swap out the hammer as you would with the Colt style setup. Come down onto the pistol and rimfire forum as you'll find answers to your questions there.
