I have noticed that as well.  I had 2 and one had the same problem as well.   I had better luck with Stag Lowers and Eagle Arms.

I read as much bad here as I do good about RRA.
Luckily, I'm strictly a Colt/Bushmaster man

I thought this was a thread from a couple months ago, but it's a new one .  Dang.

I too will spend the Xtra money on bushmaster they are more consistent and a field rifle should be easier to strip.I have 1 RRA lower and the only upper that would fit was an A1 DK marked upper wich still needed to be worked in a little. They need to start loosening things up a bit.Having stuff that does not fit easily takes away from the modularity and the ease of swapping parts from the design.Still I love their lower parts, handguards and telestock assemblies.

All RRA lower receivers are VERY TIGHT. You can put a couple drops of oil on the rear lug and work it in and out until it fits. RRA figured it was better to have people complain about them being too tight, than too lose. Too tight can easily be fixed.......
Your "issue" (not problem) is quite common, and concerned me at first as well.

I've never seen a RRA rifle that was not every bit as nice as any Bushmaster/Colt/ETC.

Even bushmaster and colt have had QC issues in the past.

Mine have all been tight.  They have all worked with my uppers --- I have had 4 RRA lowers and I have three Stag Arms lowers now too which I think are remarked RRA.

If you got them from a reputable dealer you may be able to swap them out.

I don't think its any QC issue. Its just that their new lowers and made to be tight, just as bigbore already stated. They will losen up with useage. People complain when their lose and also complain when their tight. Some times you just can't win, but I'll take tight over lose any day.

I have had several out of the last few batches that were really tight. I know they are having trouble getting them (just try ordering some) and may be rushing to get them in and missing some QC.
It will get straightened out eventually.

Well at least  5 out of the 6 I received today. I got 6 brand new RRA stripped lowers out of layaway today and 5 out 6 of them will not fit my RRA or Colt upper. I tried them all!! I put the front pivot pin in each lower and tried to close it. No dice because  the rear opening of the receiver is too small. Well I going to the gun shop to switch them out but if this is an example of RRA quality control I will spend the Xtra $$ for Bushmaster. Well on a positive note 1 of the lowers fit fine hopefully this is a bad lot. Im tring to be positive if one of them was out of spec fine but 5 out of 6 is very bad. Like I said hopefully they will exchange them tommorow.

I'm sorry this is going to sound like a markm comment but...

Duh??? you've got over 1000 posts here. Do you ever read any? You are bitching and moaning like this is some kind of news flash. Here, for the 1 millionth time...

RRA purposely mills their lowers to be tight in the rear takedown pin area. Some will be tighter than others. Some will be hand tight, some will require fitting.

Some people love this "feature" and some hate it because it is not mil-spec. what ever your personal view is on this subject... PLEASE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!! This issue has been beat to death!!!

Again, sorry but I couldn't help it

Freefall,

There's no problem filing the lug, just a little at a time, a couple of strokes, then test fit.  I like the RRA lowers and have zero function problems with them.  Here's a pic of two uppers, a Model 1 and a flat top from ADCO mated to a DPMS 16" HBAR.

Hell I took a dremel to my RRA lower to get my bushy M4 to drop in. The RRA lower came as an A4 varminter and the varmint setup is just as tight as it ever was but now my m4 upper will drop in.

No regrets.
